CEVA Newsfast Named ‘Network of the Year'

20 July 2007 - 16:45 CET

CEVA Newsfast (formerly TNT Newsfast/Network Logistics) has won the title of ‘Network of the Year' at the logistics industry's most prestigious award ceremony, the Motor Transport Awards.

CEVA Newsfast specialises in offering shared-user warehousing and delivery services for five key industry sectors: news, magazines, FMCG food ambient, FMCG general merchandise and mail.

The Motor Transport judges said: "CEVA Newsfast demonstrated exceptionally high levels of customer service, network efficiency and reliability.... A network that combines outstanding high standards with growth and innovation."

Its clients include all the national newspaper publishers and many of the major magazine publishers, book distributors and stationery and paper suppliers, for example, Rapak, Macmillan, Office Depot, Spicers and Prinovis. CEVA Newsfast also provides a national logistics service to TNT Post UK for the movement of bulk mail and B to C parcels and packages.

The company recently added a £6m p.a. John West warehousing and distribution contract to its list of grocery clients, which includes Twinings, Wrigleys, Whitworths and Del Monte. Newsfast also offers primary consolidation centre facilities to leading multiple retailers Tesco, Somerfield and Asda.

David Bermingham, Managing Director, explains that the network, launched 20 years ago, has been built on the experience of delivering the nation's daily newspapers - "one of the most perishable products you can handle". The company then expanded into related industries in publishing, paper and stationery before taking a significant step into the grocery/retail sector building on its integration with the multi-user network of Taylor Barnard in 2002.

"We have 19 depots and 800 vehicles, with total visibility throughout the supply chain. We can offer each client the individual service they require to serve their own customers, while, at the same time, offering them the cost-efficiencies of a multi-user system," says Mr Bermingham.

"Also, as more companies become concerned about their carbon footprint, they are seeking networks like ours to reduce total ‘mileage' of the products they sell. The fact that we do it to such a high standard of reliability means companies feel confident in selecting our service."

Neil Crossthwaite, Managing Director of CEVA in the UK, congratulated the Newsfast team on its fantastic achievement. "The Motor Transport Awards ceremony is our industry's flagship event and these successes send an important message that CEVA is a force to be reckoned with."
