CEVA in the right patch with vegetable growers looking for fresh packaging solutions

MELBOURNE, Australia, 15 October 2009 - CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, through its materials handling arm in Australia, CEVA Pallecon, has launched a new sub-agency at Lindenow in East Gippsland, Victoria, to provide vegetable growers with a new range of fresh food packaging solutions.

East Gippsland is one of Australia's principal farming regions and produces a wide variety of seasonal products including broccoli, lettuce and cabbage for local and national markets. With a new harvest season about to commence there has been an increase in demand from local vegetable growers to use CEVA's plastic folding CEVAbins in their supply chains.

The CEVAbin is designed to meet a standard Australian footprint and folds down to one third of its size to make freight and storage of products easier for the grower. CEVAbins are available on a flexible rental basis in vented and non-vented models are made from 100% recyclable food grade polymer and are UV stabilised.

Howard Critchley, Managing Director of CEVA in Australia, said: "It's important that we provide customers with the right products and proven solutions to meet their supply chain requirements. By opening a sub-agency in the region, we are able to provide a personalised and timely service that will meet the rising demand for our products, including our market leading CEVAbin. We will monitor the performance of this sub-agency closely with a view to opening similar sub-agencies at other principal food growing regions in Australia."

Mr Sab Lanteri, CEVA's Sub-Agent, said: "Demand for the innovative CEVAbin has been fuelled by local growers looking for a light-weight packaging solution that can withstand the most rugged operating environment. Unlike other folding bins available on the market, CEVAbins have smooth inner walls that provide superior product protection - this provides a significant advantage when rotating the bin as the product does not become caught in wall recesses."

The new sub-agency at 78 Henry Street, Lindenow, Victoria is now open for business.
