CEVA Logistics today announced that it has signed an agreement in Italy with Perfumery Douglas S.p.A., a leader in the market of perfume articles and selective cosmetics.According to the terms of the agreement, CEVA will allocate a dedicated area at a plant located within the Milan area, for managing the required activities. This site will operate as a Cross Docking Centre for products arriving from Douglas' suppliers. The activities include the receipt of products, sorting, distribution and delivery to the retailer's stores in Italy. CEVA furthermore offers Douglas a series of activities with high added value, including the insertion of an anti-shoplifting tag into individual items, customised packaging, and the management of return packages and those destined for recycling.
Andrea Rocco, the Managing Director of the Consumer Division of CEVA Italy, commented: "Signing this agreement represents a further step forward for the business in the consumer sector and in particular, in the division of selective perfumery. By combining expertise in the management of logistics for perfumery products and personal care with the specific technical know-how acquired in supply chain management for retailer clients, CEVA is able to guarantee Douglas a highly flexible range of logistics solutions and higher levels of service compared to competitors".
Marc Andreas Carls, the Commercial Director of Perfumery Douglas S.p.A., added: "The opening of the Cross Docking Centre marks a significant change in the management of our supply-chain. The main objective is to relieve our retail stores of those tasks that are not geared to sales. That will allow our sales personnel to concentrate more closely on the client. At the same time, we can become more efficient in the preparation and the distribution of merchandise, owing to a better division of tasks. In CEVA we have found a highly professional partner."
