CEVA wins Assologistica’s “ Logistics company of the year award 2009”

23 November 2009 - 11:06 CET

Milan, Italy, 23 November 2009 - CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has received the "2009 Logistics company of the year award for excellence and innovation in the management of HR and training."

This prize is awarded annually by Assologistica, the Italian category association representing leading logistics operators. The prize is given to logistics companies and managers, who stand out for having introduced innovation in various fields, from technology to real estate, transport to company internationalization. Members of Assologistica, Assologistica Cultura e Formazione and the editorial staff of Euromerci, choose companies that have succeeded in transforming innovation into concrete benefits for business, both for their companies and employees.

It is clear the success of this award was a product of CEVA's innovative internal training program, key elements of which were based on international experience. CEVA indentified the best practices within the SEMEA countries and made them replicable for businesses in other countries to use as learning tools. Drawing from this global experience was an innovative feature developed by CEVA directly for its employees, helping create and strengthen the global vision of CEVA and its procedures. The internal training programs were implemented in 2009 with courses geared to the business and cross-sector activities in the Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa Region (SEMEA).

Gianfranco Sgro, President of CEVA for Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "We are proud to receive this important award. In the field of international logistics, it is the people who are able to make a difference. Therefore investing in employees is for CEVA, a source of prosperity; aware of this key role our employees play, we continue to innovate in our internal training programs".

Gian Paolo Naef, HR Director of CEVA for the SEMEA Region added: "The centrality of the people working for us is one of CEVA's principal values. We have demonstrated that even in times marked by economic uncertainty, it is possible to find a different way forward to maintain the focus and commitment of our training and thus with regard also to our staff. No short or long-term results are possible without adequate investments in the professional growth of our employees, which itself develops their sense of participation in the company".

The training program which led to CEVA being awarded by Assologistica is based on topics that can provide added value for daily working activities, measurable using special indicators (Key Performance Indicators) and geared to the employees' effective training requirements. Moreover, as the courses are internal, this enables an exchange of experiences and competence that is of exceptional value.

In Italy, the results for the first half of the year have seen 28% of the workforce involved in training and almost 100% subscribing to the initiatives.
