TNT Logistics UK's Deb operation has received the prestigious OHSAS 18001 accreditation from LRQA. TNT Logistics stores and transports Deb's occupational skin safety products and cleaning and maintenance products for the industrial, automotive and healthcare markets. The accreditation recognises TNT Logistics' commitment to continuous improvement and the adoption of best practice within TNT's Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
Neil Giblin, Operations Manager from DEB, says: "We work very closely with the team from TNT Logistics to ensure we have a rigorous health and safety policy but it is always gratifying to have official recognition that TNT's health and safety standards are so high."
The accreditation follows a rigorous audit of Health and Safety standards by LRQA at the contract's warehouse and transport operation in South Normanton, Derbyshire.
Commenting on the audit, Mike Bird of LRQA said: "I am satisfied that the Deb operation has met the requirements of OHSAS 18001 and, if the same commitment is shown at other locations hopefully this will lead to recommendation for approval for all TNT Logistics sites at future visits."
The intensive assessment involved examining all aspects of the management system, which included spending a day with a driver and inspecting associated safe systems of work. It also involved an inspection of the warehouse and outside yard areas, as well as a full review of all documentation.
"During the delivery/pick-up and driving process Steve Axford, TNT's driver, performed his duties in a very professional and safe way and no area of concern was noted applicable to the processes undertaken by him," said Mr Bird.
Neil Crossthwaite, Managing Director, TNT Logistics UK says:"TNT Logistics is totally committed to providing the safest possible working environment for our employees.
"The revised occupational health and safety management system we have implemented has enabled us to manage safety even more effectively across all of our 150 operating sites."
