TNT Logistics North America, one of the nation's leading providers of value-added logistics, broke ground today on its 84,000 sq. ft. logistics support facility in Flint, Michigan which, when completed, will support production of Isuzu's and General Motors' new line of medium duty trucks.
Scheduled to begin operations in November, the facility will have a staff of 26 and perform logistic functions such as the subassembly of the trucks' cab interiors. "We are very delighted to be able to support Isuzu as they begin operations in Flint," says John Schuller, division manager for TNT Logistics North America. "This continues a long and successful relationship we've enjoyed with Isuzu that began in Janesville, Wisconsin."
General Motors is moving production of its Isuzu and GMC branded medium duty trucks from Janesville, Wisconsin, to Flint. The new models will be introduced in 2003. "Isuzu is looking forward to continuing our long term relationship with TNT Logistics with this new assembly operation in Flint," says Masaki Amemiya, assistant vice president, Isuzu Motors America. "Over the past six years we have developed a productive work environment that we are excited about continuing here in Flint. At the same time we are pleased to continue our long-term working partnership with General Motors in the production of medium duty trucks. We are confident that this project will be as successful in Flint as it was in Janesville."
TNT Logistics has provided value-added logistics to General Motors since 1982 and Isuzu since 1996.
