New TNT lightweight container makes immediate impact with McKey Food Service Ltd

McKey Food Services has improved its chilled meat supply chain operation with the award of a new container contract to TNT Container Logistics.TNT Container Logistics, the world leader in the hire and de-hire of intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), secured the contract thanks to the innovative features on its new Pallecon-Lite container.
These include its lightweight construction, integral lid and easy management control tracking system.
A large fleet of Pallecon-Lites will now be used by McKey suppliers to deliver meat to its plants in Milton Keynes and Scunthorpe.
TNT Container Logistics' European Director for Sales and Marketing John Wright said: "The Pallecon-Lite was developed in close conjunction with McKey Food Service Ltd, and their immediate interest in the final product confirms its advantages.
"The unit is lighter than traditional containers, is easy to secure, and has additional hygiene advantages such as a corrugated shaped base board and an integral lid which eliminates loose parts."
The improved Pallecon-Lite is easily sealed combining lightweight design with high levels of security for the protection of products during storage and in transit. Its rigid frame is constructed of galvanised steel and panels are made from colour-coated steel sheets.
Six empty fully-folded containers can be stacked into one vehicle load space, which saves space during return transit and when storing. Full containers can be stacked five units high, maximising warehouse space utilisation.
A new internet-based tracking system now enables McKey to track and trace its containers at any time throughout the entire supply circuit. This allows complete control and enables the company to manage the fleet more effectively.
The system is easy to use, with no complicated installation of hardware or software required. McKey only needs access to the internet on any PC, and scanners and full operator training is provided by TNT Container Logistics.
