TNT Logistics is among the best GM suppliers in Brazil

02 April 2003 - 09:24 CET

For the second year running TNT Logistics received the "Certificate of Mérit 2002" from General Motors of Brazil. The certificate was awarded to the 34 companies that stood out among the roughly 500 suppliers for the Brazilian GM subsidiary during 2002. GM made a rigorous analysis to arrive at the finalists based on four items - QSTP (quality, service, technology and price) - as well as supplier performance throughout the twelve months of the year.

TNT won its first contract with General Motors two years ago, applying logistics at the Gravataí plant (Rio Grande do Sul state), one of the most modern GM plants worldwide. Today, as well as Gravataí, TNT is also present in other GM units. Compared to the first contract, TNT's activities at GM doubled twice - 100% each in the first and the second year. This demonstrates customer satisfaction with the results of services provided. "Certainly such satisfaction, which resulted from increased presence within GM also contributed towards winning the award", says Giuseppe Chiellino, director-president for TNT South America.
Criteria

Selection is made by GM's supplier quality engineering department, which pre-assesses the suppliers and distributes questionnaires to 21 different areas within the company. The winners are decided by adding up the points, and of these one is elected supplier of the year. This supplier representes the country at an international GM event, the Suplier of the Year.

Giuseppe Chiellino emphasizes that this award, among so many others, means recognition of the work that TNT has developed since coming to Brazil five years ago. "We feel honored to be classified as the best by a client such as GM", he states.
